About Travel to Nha Trang
Nha Trang is a medium sized city in Southern Vietnam which is a very popular holiday destination for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. The city is very tourist oriented, however, it also has some significant cultural attractions that will appeal to independent travellers.
Tran Phu Beach
The main attraction for visitors to Nha Trang is the 6 km long Tran Phu Beach, also known as Nha Trang Beach. Most of the length of the beach, particularly the area in the city centre, is backed by a wide pedestrianised promenade with open spaces and parks. This walkway is a popular place to walk, jog, and cycle.
As well as a place to swim and sunbathe, Tran Phu Beach is also a place to eat and drink with its restaurants and bars often staying open late into the evening. Among the most popular bars and restaurants on the beach are The Sailing Club, Happy Beach and Zima.
Vinpearl Land
Vinpearl Land is a large entertainment complex located on Hon Tre Island, which is located about 3 km off the coast parallel to the southern end of Tran Phu Beach. Most visitors access this attraction by cable car, which is included in the entrance fee.
Attractions at Vinpearl Land include a water park, indoor and outdoor amusement parks, 4D cinema, and an aquarium. Visitors can also stay overnight at Vinpearl Land which has several hotels and many restaurants. There is also a golf course.

Po Nagar Temple
Po Nagar Temple is Nha Trang’s most important historical sites. The exact date the temple was established is unknown, although there is an inscription dated 781 AD referring to the recapture of the temple from ‘foreign invaders’.
Po Nagar Temple was built by the people of the Cham Civilisation which ruled over much of southern Vietnam for about 1,000 years from the 6th Century. The temple is dedicated to a Cham deity, Yan Po Nagar, but also contains images of Hindu deities and the Lord Buddha.
The temple has four distinctive and very ornate towers and is generally considered the best preserved example of Cham architecture. Po Nagar Temple is also located in an area of great natural beauty overlooking the mouth of the Cai River which serves as a harbour for the city’s fishing fleet.
Long Son Pagoda
Long Son Pagoda is an early 20th Century temple on a hill located close to Nha Trang Railway Station. The main feature of the temple is its 24 metre tall all white statue of the Lord Buddha in a seated position. The statue is located at the top of a small hill which visitors need to ascend 152 steps to reach.
Other points of interest include some elaborately decorated temple buildings at the base of the hill and a range of thought provoking statues and reliefs installed on either side of the steps leading up to the main statue. Near the entrance to the temple there is a notably good vegetarian restaurant staffed by monks at the temple.
Dam Market
Dam Market is a city centre market opened in 1974, one year before the city was captured by North Vietnamese forces. The large central building is an ugly concrete structure crowded with stalls selling clothes, souvenirs and household items. Adjacent to the main building is a second concrete building with more space and better organisation where food products are sold. Nha Trang is well known for its dried seafood products, particularly shrimp and cuttlefish, which are used as flavourings in cooking and Dam Market is one of the best places to purchase them.
