About travel to Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is the largest of Vietnam’s islands, measuring roughly 48 km by 25 km, with a surface area of over 500 square kilometres.

Development in Phu Quoc

The north and eastern parts of Phu Quoc are mountainous and heavily forested, and the southern and western parts of the island are flatter and this is where the airport and most of the tourist development is located. Phu Quoc has one large town, Duong Dong, which is home to around a third of the island’s permanent residents, of which there are an estimated 180,000.

Phu Quoc has been inhabited for at least several hundred years, and the majority of the workforce are still engaged in agriculture, fishing and some basic manufacturing processes, such as the production of fish sauce, for which Phu Quoc is famous.
