About Travel to Ninh Binh
Ninh Binh City itself is fairly small, with around 130,000 permanent residents, and has no major tourist attractions. It is, however, an excellent base for visiting a variety of attractions within a 30 km radius of the city. The closest of these attractions is the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex. The Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex is a protected area covering 62 square kilometres and featuring steep sided limestone hills rising from rice fields. This park is only 6 to 7 km from Ninh Binh City and many visitors choose to travel there by bicycle. Within the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex there are 4 main attractions:
- Tam Coc, where you can take a boat ride along a scenic river which passes through 3 partially submerged caves.
- Trang An Grottoes, where you can also take boat rides into partially submerged caves.
- Bich Dong Pagoda, which features a series of temple buildings around a lake and on a steep hillside.
- Hua Mua Peak, where you need to climb 500 steeps to reach a viewpoint with a photograph worthy small pagoda.

Ninh Binh’s other attractions are slightly further away from Ninh Binh City and you need to take motorised transport to get there.
