Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is both a national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering an area of 857 square kilometres.

Caves at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

The park is best known for its rivers and massive cave system. The largest cave in the world, the Sơn Đoòng Cave, is located inside the park. Visiting Sơn Đoòng Cave is out of the reach of most visitors, because of the massive entry fee and required technical caving skills needed to get into the cave, but there are other caves you can visit on day trips and or you can get to by joining 2 to 3 day guided expeditions, which cost around $ 300 to 500 USD per person depending upon the cave you visit. Phong Nha cave, which is 8 km long, is the most easily accessible as you get there by an inexpensive boat trip.

As well as the caves there are plenty of above ground activities such as zip-lining, hiking and long mountain biking trails. The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is an area of immense natural beauty with some interesting and scenically located guesthouses, restaurants and bars. It’s also a great place to hang out and meet other travellers as well. Phong Nha is still a relatively under developed tourist destinations and only the most intrepid visitors to Vietnam make the effort to visit the park.
