Rach Gia itself is not a popular tourist destination and doesn’t have great facilities for foreign visitors. Phu Quoc is a large island measuring 48n km by 25 km and has about 180,000 permanent residents. The north eastern part of the island is mountainous and heavily forested, and for the larger designated as protected national park land. The central and southern parts of the island are flatter and many of the trees have been cleared.
As well as beaches, and the island’s famous pepper plantations, Phu Quoc also has several high investment amusement parks. zoos, and aquariums which will appeal to many families. In the north west of Phu Quoc tourists attractions include Vinwonders Phu Quoc, which is an amusement park, and Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc, which is a large outdoor zoo. In the south od the island a nearly 8 km long cable car service takes visitors from Phu Quoc to the island of Hon Thom which has a large waterpark and large aquarium, amongst other attractions.
