The Ha Vy Hotel is budget hotel located near the Pham Ngu Lao Road which is the most popular part of Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, with foreign visitors to the city. This conveniently located hotel has good en-suite rooms for around $16 to $20 USD a night, making it an excellent choice for backpackers after a comfortable hotel during their visit to Ho Chi Minh City.
Good points about the Ha Vy Hotel
The Ha Vy Hotel is close to lots of bars and restaurants as well as east walking distance from many of the points of interest in the city such as Ben Thanh Market and Tao Dan Park. The hotel is also near a major suburban bus station and the bus stop for tourist bus services to Can Tho, Dalat, Hue, Nha Trang, and other destinations further away such as Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

The Ha Vy Hotel is also good value for money. There are lots of hotels in this area for about the same price but the rooms aren’t as big or as nice. You need to book a room in advance at the Ha Vy Hotel during high season as it’s a popular choice.
The Ha Vy Hotel is particularly recommended for first time visitors to Ho Chi Minh City because its so central and with all the amenities you need very close by as well, and English speaking reception staff who can assist first time visitors with getting their bearing a new country.
Rooms at the Ha Vy Hotel
The rooms at the Ha Vy Hotel are plainly furnished and spacious. The bed was comfortable enough and the air-conditioning worked well. The rooms have a fridge and satellite TV with English language channels as well as free WiFi.

The Ha Vy Hotel is located right in the centre of a very busy part of Ho Chi Minh City so this means it get a little noisy at night. All the hotels in the area are a little noisy at night because of the large number of bars nearby and people coming to visit those bars. If you want a really quiet hotel to stay at then we recommend that you pick another part of the city.

The bathrooms at the Ha Vy Hotel are OK. The bathroom in my room was clean and the water was hot. The hotel provided towels, soap and a disposable tooth brush as well as toilet paper.
Facilities at the Ha Vy Hotel
The Ha Vy Hotel has no common facilities. The hotel is advertised as offering a free breakfast in with the room price, however, that appears to be a mistake. The hotel appears to have no catering facilities, and it also has no elevator which few of the hotels in the area have.

The Ha Vy Hotel is, however, on a street with plenty of shops and restaurants. I got an excellent steak sandwich from a stall opposite the front of the hotel for less than $1 USD and there are lots of other places within a 100 metre walking distance where you can also buy food and drink. I can see why the Ha Vy Hotel doesn’t bother with catering as there are so many places which sell food and drink a very short distance away.
